We have a vacancy on the East Dorset Group Committee for a publicity and recruitment officer. This officer receives emails and telephone calls from the general public enquiring about Ramblers membership and explains how the group works and how to join. Other ideas on how to recruit and keep new members are always very welcome.
We have one remaining vacancy for a committee member. Committee members are East Dorset Group members who want to help the committee make decisions on current issues but do not wish to take on a specific role.
How to join our committee
Please get in touch with us using the contact details below, or from your programme, if you would like to be considered as a member for our committee.BACK TO TOP
We usually have no way of contacting our members apart from our newsletter, Rambling On, sent out 3 times a year. Would you like to join our mailing list for occasional emails with information such as walks cancelled in icy weather at short notice?
If you wish to join our list please email the secretary using the contact details in your programme or at the bottom of this page, asking to join. If you wish to leave the list at any time, just telephone or email the secretary.

Have you just changed your address or are you about to do so? We do not hold addresses at group level. Instead, your address is held by the central office of the Ramblers and they produce all our address labels. So if you change your address, please could you contact them directly in one of the following ways.
You can write, with your membership number and old and new addresses, to: The Ramblers, 2nd Floor Camelford House, 87-90 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TW, or email the Ramblers. Alternatively, you can telephone them at 02073 398500.BACK TO TOP
East Dorset Group could do with some more leaders. If you are interested in the idea of becoming one of our leaders, please contact the Leaders’ Co-ordinator, whose details are given in Rambling On, our newsletter. We have a number of current leaders who would be happy to help any new leaders, perhaps by accompanying them on the route of a walk they would like to put on the programme.

East Dorset Group welcomes children on walks. We would still ask any adult bringing children on a walk to be sure to take responsibility for all aspects of their welfare at all times on the walk.BACK TO TOP
Our last East Dorset Group AGM was held on Tuesday 22nd November 2016 at the Hamworthy Club, Magna Road, Canford Magna. We do not currently supply the draft minutes of the previous meeting to all members but if you would like to see the draft minutes from 2016, please contact the Secretary. Comments on these minutes are invited at the subsequent AGM. Our next AGM will be held on Tuesday 28th November 2017.BACK TO TOP
Most of East Dorset Group’s walks are not accessible by public transport. However, some members do not have their own car and others would prefer to use public transport for environmental reasons so the Group is trying to make more walks by public transport available. We now put on a few bus and train walks, which are walks dependent on public transport and where a place for parking cars is not necessarily offered and some bus or train accessible walks, where both a place for parking cars and a suitable bus or train route are mentioned in the programme. The scheme is getting off to a slow start and we need more leaders to put on such walks and more walkers to attend the walks by using public transport. Here are guidelines to walks using public transport for you to download.BACK TO TOP
