News from the Social Secretary

Our trip to see the Abbotsbury illuminations produced some stunning pictures. Please let us know if you have other ideas of outings you would like to see on our programme.

All England Coastal Access

In 2009 the Government passed the Marine and Coastal Access Act which for the first time gives us the right to a coastal path round England. Dorset was the first place in England for people to get this right of access to the coast along the 17 mile Weymouth Stretch.

Dorset County Councilís Coastal Rangers and Coastal Access Officer ran an event on Sunday 1st July 2012.

On Friday 6th July 2012 Dorset Ramblers walked the whole length of the 17 mile Weymouth stretch of the new Coast Path. Kate Ashbrook, President of the Ramblers, joined the walk and performed a path-opening ceremony by cutting a ribbon.
